Los
Angeles, California
We had an absolutely amazing time out in LA. The work that came in for
the show was astounding. We had over 100 works from 50+ artists from around
the world. Thanks to everyone who participated. Like many of the projects
we work on, it wouldn't have been possible without your suport. Many thanks
to the guys at the Treehouse Gallery for giving us the opportunity, and
hosting us while we were out there.
The exhibtion was a result of an open call for anyone to make their own
You Are Beautiful piece. There was no stipulation beyond this, and work
came in from all around the world. Each participant was asked to donate
in addition to their piece, which funded the 8' x 100' installation. We
thought the exhibition was a great success, and almost broke even on the
entire event.
Only being out there for three days, we didn't get enough time to take
care of everything we wanted. We did get about half of the work installed
before we left, and the Treehouse fellows took care of the rest. Unfortunately,
they didn't have a camera when they were installing, so we don't have
photos of all the work installed. Every piece that did come in is showcased
in the Work section.
The installation under the brigde was tagged on every surface, then painted
white by the city, completely tagged again, painted white by the city
again, and then the Y was torn, and someone fixed it with a piece of wood.
It is still standing, being altered by artists and the city alike.
