100
foot long mural, made entirely by volunteers, with solely scavenged
or found materials. One individual at City Year, a after school
program helping students at Marquette School (Chicago's 2nd
largest Public School) looked across the street from her classroom,
and decided to make a difference.
The
pressure wash of the buff had removed the original paint of
the fence. The property owners gave permission, when told about
the project. Asking if a spanish translation could be incorporated
as well.
The
finished product.
Each
letter included images of students in the program. Tip Toe cut
stencils from the children's photos, having this be a surprise
to the children. None of them knew they would have 3 foot tall
images of their faces, until they saw them on the fence.
