Classic Photo Booth

One of Chicago's premier printers, Classic Color, reached out in need to develop an experience for Chicago's AIGA Annual Members Meeting. In celebration of You-Are-Beautiful's 10th year, I thought it would be a great idea to get You-Are-Beautiful on board. We ended up developing the You-Are-Beautiful photo booth.
For the word PHOTO, I sat down with the Classic logo and extracted the upper quarter curve of the "C" and tooled some hand-lettering inspired from the vintage glass and neon signage of camera shops (specifically Chicago's Central Camera). As a complementary typeface to the lettering and the logo, I took the roundness of the curves and coupled it with the extended sophistication of Classic's logotype. Through inserting a bit of the rawness (lack of pure technical proficiency) generally derived from hand-lettering, the You Are Beautiful type contains a rich personality of honesty and inclusiveness.
